Do I need experience or a license to enroll?
No. Our permanent makeup courses are built for complete beginners. To work on clients in California you register as a Body Art Practitioner with your county and complete a Bloodborne Pathogens course, and we walk you through both. Brow lamination and tinting are different: in California they fall under cosmetology and esthetics licensing.
Which course should I take first?
Most beginners start with Microblading & Combo Brows or Ombré Powder & Combo Brows. If you want to start with design only, Expert Face Mapping or the online course is a great first step.
How old do I need to be?
You must be 18 or older to enroll in an in-person PMU course.
Where are classes held?
At our studios at 6787 Carnelian Street in Rancho Cucamonga and 640 S San Vicente Blvd, Ste 210 in Los Angeles. The online face mapping course can be taken from anywhere.
Will I work on a real person?
Yes. Every in-person PMU course includes a live model demonstration and your own supervised live model procedure.
Should I choose group or private training?
Small group classes are a social, budget friendly way to learn on scheduled dates. Private 1-1 training is built around your schedule and pace, with Valentina’s full attention the entire time.
How long are the courses?
Microblading, powder and nano brow courses are 3 days in person. Lip blushing and eyeliner are 2 days. Face mapping and brow lamination are 1 day. In-person PMU courses also include online pre-study.
Is the certificate a license?
You receive a certificate of completion from Beauty Expert Studio. It shows you completed our training. It is not a state license. To perform permanent makeup in California you also register with your county health department.
How much does training cost?
Group PMU courses start at $2,500 and private 1-1 training starts at $3,000. Face mapping starts at $600, brow lamination at $800 and the online face mapping course is $297. See every price on the Courses page.
Can I pay over time?
Yes. Flexible monthly payment plans are available through Cherry. A deposit reserves your seat ($500 for PMU courses, $200 for one-day courses) and goes toward tuition. Pay it online in seconds.
How do I reserve my seat?
Send an inquiry or call us. Pay your deposit right on the course page ($500 for PMU courses, $200 for one-day courses). It holds your seat and is applied to your tuition.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations must be made in writing. With at least 14 days notice, tuition is refunded minus the deposit. With less than 14 days notice, 50% of tuition is retained. See our Training Policies for details.
What support do I get after the course?
One free class retake within 12 months, plus ongoing mentorship. Valentina still answers student questions long after graduation day.
Can I buy professional supplies?
Yes. Students get access to professional grade supplies at trade prices.
Can I take more courses later?
Absolutely. Many students start with one technique and come back to add brows, lips or eyeliner to their menu.
